Finest of smoked teas. Beautiful long delicate leaves. To produce Lapsang Souchong, the tea leaves are first withered over wood fires. After pan-frying and rolling they are then pressed into wooden barrels and covered with cloth to ferment until they give off a pleasant fragrance following which they are rolled into taut strips and placed in baskets hung on racks over smoking fires to dry and absorb the smoke flavor producing thick glossy black strips of tea leaves. |
